For the last four years Sharp Teeth Theatre have been bringing together theatre, storytelling, poetry and music to create a night of riotous Sunday fun. They’ve had raps about stolen bikes, poems about cottaging, performances from drag kings, new writing about women who climb the shard, and improvised storytelling about Lance Armstrong getting lost in a bathtub of meat, amongst many other things.

Each night features four acts, one from each genre. Recent nights have included Spindle Ensemble, Malaika Kegode, Ellie Showering, Craft-D, Wilf Merttens, Lucy Harrington, Claire Murphy, Katie Storer, and more – the best of local and not so local talent. And it’s all Pay What You Decide!

Check out line-ups online, and come on down for an evening of joyous art, like a variety show, but better, better, better!

“We were spoilt as the bill threw up outstanding humourous and thought provoking acts.”
The Fix Mag

Our recommended donation is £4 (that’s 1 quid per act), but many people give more. Remember there is no cash point at the Wardrobe Theatre or immediately nearby.

Tom Sastry was selected by Carol Ann Duffy as one of the 2016 Laureate’s Choice poets. His resulting pamphlet ‘Complicity’ was a Poetry Book Society pamphlet choice and a Poetry School Book of the Year. Deadpan, emotional and offbeat, his combination of supple writing and comic timing has won him a similar reputation as a performer. He supported Danez Smith and Hera Lindsay Bird on their recent UK tours.

Later this year, Nine Arches Press will publish Tom’s first full collection of poems ‘A Man’s House Catches Fire’: an exploration of lives lived in the shadow of “an emergency that doesn’t stop”. He will be performing a set drawn from the book.

“Tom Sastry navigates the mysterious everyday…making friendships and love affairs new and strange.”
Carol Ann Duffy

“Tom Sastry is one of my faaaaaaavorite poets doing it in the UK! So funny and strange and tender and delightfully sad.”
Danez Smith

Martin Callingham's debut album 'Tonight, We All Swim Free' was released in 2015 on Folkwit Records. Playing like the soundtrack to the last day of your childhood holidays it is in parts upbeat, elsewhere heart-breaking, and beguiling from beginning to end.

"The album was picked up by Radios 1 and 6 and it's easy to see why. Portland Square was a recent favourite and Knots, whilst more upbeat, continues the sublime stream of complete and utter loveliness." LOUDER THAN WAR.

A new album is on its way in 2019. Expect a deeply affecting live show to preview a beautifully crafted album.
